This post discusses three simple steps so you can be accountable for your New Year goals.
First, let’s look at the goals you have set for yourself. Many of us make vague goals like "I want to get in shape" or "eat healthier" If you have a vague goal, let's make that goal more measurable.
If your goal is "I want to get in shape," turn it into "I will walk for 30 minutes on my treadmill five times a week". Now you know exactly what you need to do to achieve this goal.
Next, create a plan. If your goal is to walk five times a week for 30 minutes, where and when will you walk? But, if you know you are going to walk on your treadmill at 6 am for 30 minutes five times a week, there is no guesswork. Your alarm goes off, and you know what to do. And you are much more likely to do it.
Finally, Tell a friend, or a spouse, tell someone what your goal is because when you put it out there, there is this feeling that others are going to hold you accountable.
Following these simple steps, setting measurable goals, creating a plan, and involving others in your journey are simple yet effective ways to stay accountable and achieve your goals.
